5 Tips For Hyatal Hernia Treatment
If you’re just starting out with hyatal hernia treatment it can be tempting to jump straight to taking dramatic action, but you can often get by without doing anything drastic. Here are some tips to help you manage your condition effectively.
1. Don’t panic and assume the worse. If you’ve discovered that you have this issue but you have no hyatal hernia symptoms, you may not even need to do anything about it. Modern medicine has done wonderful things, but it is still sometimes possible for an attempt at medical treatment to be worse than the problem you are treating. Especially with a condition like this, which is often harmless and has no symptoms at all, your best choice may actually be to do nothing, or follow a more natural approach with a hyatal hernia diet plan.
2. Think smaller with your meals, avoid eating extremely large meals. When your stomach is stuffed full of food, there is more pressure on the muscles that keep the stomach acid within the stomach and more pressure on the space available in your abdomen. Smaller meals will be easier for your stomach to handle and less likely to result in GERD.
3. Sleep at a slight angle. If you can either put blocks under the head of your bed to tilt it slightly higher than the foot, or sleep on a foam wedge you should do so. Acid can more easily escape the stomach at night because you’re laying flat and gravity isn’t helping to hold it down in your stomach. Being at a slight angle puts gravity to work on your behalf all night long.
4. If simple lifestyle changes aren’t working, then it’s time to talk to your doctor about trying medications. There are a variety available, both by prescription and over the counter. Make sure you talk to your doctor or pharmacist about what is safest and best for you considering your medical history and other medications you may be taking.
5. If you are one of the rare people who is advised to get surgery, get a second opinion first just to be sure that everything else has already been tested. This is a relatively simple and minor procedure, but there are risks to any kind of surgery that are simply unavoidable. It is best not to try the route until simpler options like medication or diet have been exhausted.
These tips will help you to maximize your chances of controlling any symptoms you’re experiencing. Remember that hyatal hernia treatment often isn’t even necessary and, when it is, there are very safe and effective methods.

Thanks for the post! I’m on my way to schedule my 2nd opinion on weather I need to get surgery or not. I really believe I can kick this thing myself after doing all this research for the past week.
Thanks for the help!

Hey Darin –
Good to hear Darin. Glad you’re going to get a doctors point of view, but taking care of it yourself will be great as well if that’s what’s going on with you.
Hope you’re well!

Such common sense! Thanks, sometimes you just need to be kicked in the butt to take a little bit of action.
I’ll be giving some of what you’re talking about here a try.
Thanks again!
